Large Leatherbound Victorian Family Bible, complete with brass edging and clasps, relating to William James Leach (b. 1857) and his wife Bessie (or Betsy) (b. 1858) of the Reading area, Berkshire, England.
The Family register covers 19 individuals, starting with William James and Bessie, list their three children and covers two extra generations through the two children who survived into adulthood, Florence Emily and William Oliver. The Family register is writtan across 6 pages on the pre-printed family registers that are familiar in mid Victorian Bibles. Florence Emily married George John Cooper and two children and one grandchild is listed. William Oliver married Sarah Jane Upton and their two children and four grandchildren are listed. The latest births in the register date from 1941, 1945, 1946 & 1949, in total covering a span of almost 100 years. We can provide gedcoms, translations or further images on request.
This book comes with the added bonus of a bookmark found pressed between the leaves, embroidered card with the words Feed My Lambs. Slightly damaged, but adds a human side to the heirloom. There are also a number of leaves pressed between the pages which I have left in place.
